This had never happened before. Monaco has reached the milestone of 10,000 citizens of Monegasque nationality, thanks to the entry of little Anna Carlevaris in the citizenship register (sommier de la nationalité). This historic demographic milestone was celebrated with an official reception at City Hall, attended by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, who joined Mayor Georges Marsan. The mayor expressed his satisfaction, describing the growth of the population of Monegasque nationality as a strong sign of vitality for the Principality’s future.
The official records show a significant increase, from 1,500 residents at the beginning of the 20th century to 9,883 by the end of 2025. Official data released by the Monegasque Institute of Statistics (IMSEE) reveal that the total population living in the Principality of Monaco stands at 38,900, representing 144 different nationalities. Among the residents, the French community remains the largest, with 8,270 people (21.3%), followed closely by the growing Italian community, with 7,559 residents. The other most represented nationalities are the British, with 3,081 residents, and the Swiss, with 1,237.
